It's Been-

So my last actual journal post was on the first of august. I’ll say part of my silence was from my desktop exploding and being left with my ten year old laptop to keep limping along. It’s taken me a bit to get it set up for long term use (please god someone give me money for a new computer I feel like I’m on borrowed time). Additionally, the old journal format was a pain in the ass to work with, and I was falling out of love with the new layout I’d made, especially as it stopped playing nice for me on my display. I also just kinda wasn’t using a computer or doing much at all! So.

But now I’m trying out this Zonelets script. Hopefully this’ll make updating feel less of a whole to-do.

What have I been doing: Lots of crochet, lots of house work, almost zero drawing. Frankly, I think the heat of summer cooks my brain and I was just at a loss of anything to work on. So even though I had the desire, my brain was just static noise. Thankfully, I’m on the other side of that now I think. Doing another craft for a while, plus the temperatures outside becoming tolerable have brought back my capacity to think creatively.

Currently, I have four zine ideas I’d like to get working on. I’ll give ya’ll the elevator pitches for each.

  1. How to make para-social relationships work for you!
  2. Irrational fears of mine
  3. A love letter to the Appalachian mountains
  4. Destroy the concept of ‘Pests’ from your life

They run the gamut of my more typical educational to poetic and just over all silly/introspective.

As we keep moving in to winter, I’ll be doing more crochet I think, so I’d like to do a large blog post here going over what I’ve already made and what my plans are for my next projects. It’s my favorite hobby, and it’s so satisfying to make things you then go on to use every day.

I’ll also likely keep plugging away at this website. With this new layout I feel a lot more capable of making more fun pages. I think it was starting to get too professional portfolio feeling on here, and I already have one of those. Look forward to the eventual Resources page where I plan to share alternate software/hardware and more to slowly detach yourself from the main tech empires. I’ll also try to add comments to these journal posts! I should be able to, per Zonelets info. Also just wanna add more fun imagery and stamps and little icons to this website.
